How do I apply for Free or Reduced benefits?

We urge all parents to apply for FREE or REDUCED benefits by completing the online application at www.schoolcafe.com. Use the SERVICES ID# to identify your student.

  • Please review the income guidelines for 2017-2018 as provided on the annual household letter – See chart in this section
  • Parents will need to create an account to register
    • Be sure to select Erie County and Montessori Regional CS as your school.
    • You will need to list:
      • all household members,
      • your gross household income and
      • your social security number to determine your eligibility.
    • Once your benefit status is determined, MRCS will be notified and you will receive a determination letter.

I do not qualify for Free lunches – how do I set up my payment account?

Households that do not apply or that are determined to be reduced or full pay status must set up a payment account or OPT-OUT.  See the quick guide on the back of this sheet to set up a payment account at www.schoolcafe.com.   Use the SERVICES ID# to add your student.

If ANY student arrives with no lunch and no funds available on your School Café prepaid account:

  • The student will not be able to receive a regular school lunch.
  • You will receive a broadcast call reminding you to pack lunch for your child until funds have been loaded on your account.

RETURNING STUDENTS - If you had a payment account last year, then you still have an account this year.  Any end of school year account balances have transferred over to this school year.

NEW STUDENTS - You will need your student’s SERVICES ID# to set up a payment account.   Student ID#s will be on the top of your letter to household and your determination letter.  These will be distributed during the first 2 weeks of school.

Households that DO NOT APPLY for FREE or REDUCED benefit status must set up and load money on an account at www.schoolcafe.com or OPT-OUT.

I do not want my child buying lunch or incurring charges – how do I prevent that?

If you do not want to participate in the school lunch program here at MRCS, you may OPT-OUT and decide to PACK LUNCHES for this school year.  Please complete the MRCS OPT-OUT form on our website.  We will place a BLOCK on your account for 2017-2018.   Please complete the MRCS OPT-OUT FORM marking either Breakfast or Lunch or BOTH for the meals you do not want your child to receive.

  • DO NOT SEND CASH OR CHECKS TO SCHOOL – please use the SCHOOL CAFÉ account provided to pre-pay online at www.schoolcafe.com.
  • If you do not have computer access or a debit/credit card and cannot make online payments, you can drop off or mail a check or money order to the office at:
