Weather Related
or Emergency Closing Procedure
Montessori
Regional Charter School services the 14 surrounding districts
and we coordinate with transportation services from 9 of those
districts.
On any given day, the weather can
vary widely across those districts. As the only public regional
charter school in the area, MRCS must always make our own decision
regarding weather related closings.
We will not
automatically follow either the School District of the City
of Erie or the Millcreek Township School District.
School closings will be communicated through our telephone broadcast system (Please be sure that
your contact numbers are current) and
On the following stations and listed as Montessori Regional Charter School.
- Channel 12 WICU
- Channel 24 WJET
- Channel 35 WSEE
- Channel 54 WQLN
- Channel 66 FOX
Due to the fact that we coordinate
with so many transportation systems, it is unlikely that MRCS
will ever call for a two hour delay. In the event that
your school district has a two hour delay and MRCS is in session,
then you may either drive your child to school or send your child
on the delayed bus. This will be considered an excused tardy.
Please also be aware that when MRCS remains in session and:
-
Your home district has announced a closing due to a snow day: If your child receives bus transportation
from their home district and that district has announced a snow day closing, bus transportation will not
be provided by your home district. We strongly encourage you to arrange alternate transportation to and
from school that day. If this is not possible, the absence is considered a snow day for your child.
-
Your home district is closed due to a scheduled break: If your home school district is closed due to a scheduled break, bus transportation will be provided by your home district.
